In an exemplification of National Technologies’ recognized milling capabilities, the project highlighted here outlines the fabrication of a propel plate for a customer in the heavy equipment industry. Used in an adjustment lever, construction started with 1018 steel, subjecting the metal to our saw cutting, EDM machining, and CNC milling processes to meet the specified contours. Drilling and tapping procedures were also employed for the precision detailing of the unit. Permanent markings were applied to the part as outlined by the customer. A silver colored trivalent chrome zinc plating process was carried out, meeting a minimum thickness of 0.00015”. Quality and accuracy were assured with thorough dimensional, gage, and visual inspections.

Overall dimensions of this propel plate were 3.425” in length, 0.788” in width, and a height of 0.315”. Tight tolerances of + 0.000”/- 0.004” and an angular tolerance of ± 1° were achieved during fabrication. 190 units were shipped to the customer after a turnaround time of 4 weeks.
